How to Think About the Future (Without Crippling Anxiety)
The future feels overwhelming, as anything full of wonder and endless pathways would. The common trope is that we live in unprecedented times. We don’t. We’ve been here many times throughout human history. Complex change happens at the most molecular level of the human experience, every day. What makes now feel different? What makes us feel lost? Why aren’t we as engaged with our work? We’ve become obsessed with weighing probabilities and predicting what tomorrow may bring. It’s time to focus on possibilities.
This talk will explore the basic principles of futurism as a means of bringing new meaning to our work every day. Futurist thinking creates a canvas for imagination and enables us to create a fundamentally uplifting shift in how we view our world.
Key Takeways:
• How human societies have mobilized through radical shifts of norms by being rooted in the present and future simultaneously
• Ways embracing complexity creates an adaptive, future-forward culture that individuals and organizations alike can rally around
• A leadership philosophy of work inherently rooted in multidisciplinary talent in service of collective fulfillment
What Strategic Foresight Enables Leaders to Do
Thinking about the future more intentionally is a form of resilience. Leverage the principles of foresight.
