TED is an annual invitation-only event originally featuring science, technology, entertainment and design speakers. The content formats, platforms, partnerships, topic range and talent universe have  considerably expanded and diversified. Several affiliated programs have emerged, such as TEDMED, TED Global and TED-Ed. Known for relatively short sub 20 minute talks by the world’s leading authorities and insightful thinkers, the most popular TED and TEDx Talks earn millions of video views. Organized on a more local, affordable and easier to attend basis, TEDx conferences have proliferated worldwide. They often have a single-theme.

Appearances at TED and TEDx conferences are significant accomplishments for speakers, signifying name recognition, unique expertise, compelling stories and superior presentation abilities. The curation process is extremely selective.

With the rise of work from home and virtual conferences, their shorter, video-oriented, widely shared formats have become prescient.
